No impaired charges laid

While nine Highway Traffic Act charges were doled out Dec. 11 on Day 8 of the Festive RIDE program in Sudbury, no one was charged with impaired driving.

Police checked 316 drivers.

One driver was charged with stunt driving after being clocked travelling 135 kilometres an hour in a posted 80-km/h zone, and another driver was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Police set up on Elgin Street and Notre Dame Avenue in Sudbury, Municipal Road 8 in Levack, as well as Errington Street and Municipal Road 35 at Pilon Street in Chelmsford.

Police will continue the Festive RIDE program every day for the month of December. Officers will set up spot checks at undisclosed locations.
