Protests closing Highway 17 east of Soo

The intersection of Highway 17/17B east of Sault Ste. Marie will be closed to through traffic every 15 minutes on the hour Dec. 27, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

Garden River First Nation is staging a protest in support of Attawapiskat First Nation Chief Theresa Spence, as well as the Idle No More movement

The closures will take place between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Highway 17B from the Sault Ste. Marie east city limits to the Echo Bay Bridge.
