A man who ran his vehicle through a snow bank and nearly crashed into a Regent Street home at around 11:20 p.m. Jan. 4 is facing impaired driving-related charges.

According to Greater Sudbury Police, the suspect's small vehicle had been heading northbound on a straight stretch of Regent Street, and suddenly ran off the roadway, going over a large snowbank. The car came to a final resting position on the front step of a Regent Street home.

Damage to the car was extensive. The impact was enough to activate the air bags.

The driver was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with more than 100 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. He is due to appear in court in late January.
