An Idle No More march will disrupt traffic in the downtown area today, beginning at noon, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Idle No More protesters are planning to leave on foot from the outdoor plaza at Tom Davies Square, en route to the Rainbow Centre.

The planned route is as follows:

-Exit service entrance of centre court (Tom Davies Square)
-Cross Larch Street to Young Street
-Northbound Young Street to Cedar Street
-West bound Cedar Street to Lisgar Street
-Northbound Lisgar Street to Elm Street
-Cross Elm Street to the main entrance of the Rainbow Centre

The rally organizer has indicated participants are planning to occupy the curb side (main entrance) area of the Rainbow Center at approximately 12:45 p.m., said police. Motorists travelling downtown are asked to consider alternate routes.

Greater Sudbury Police Service said it respects the right of everyone to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. Police are working with those involved to minimize the impact on the travelling public and to ensure order and public safety.

This event is scheduled to end at about 1:30 p.m.
