Freshly fallen snow allowed Greater Sudbury Police to easily track down an 18-year-old male who was carrying a pellet gun he had discharged in a residential area, according to a news release.

Police on Feb. 14 responded to a complaint in the area of Dublin and Arthur streets, where a resident reported seeing the teen walking down the street with a pellet gun.

Police located the suspect. He was found to be in possession of the pellet gun, as well as 18 individually packaged grams of marijuana. He has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.

There is a public school in the area and, upon police arrival in the area, the school was in recess, said police. The school officials did take the students in as a precaution; however, it was quickly determined that the suspect had left the area and the students were not at risk.
