Police arrest members of suspected shoplifting ring

Six people were arrested Feb. 20 when Greater Sudbury Police Service said it busted a criminal network of shoplifters operating in the New Sudbury area.

Through an ongoing investigation, police were able to identify the criminal network whose members had shoplifted from stores in the New Sudbury area. 

Police stopped two vehicle shortly before 9 p.m. and arrested six suspects. Stolen property was recovered at the time of the arrests.

All six suspects are residents of Sudbury and include a 44-year-old man, a 40-year-old man, a 22-year-old man, a 24-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman, and a 20-year-old woman.

All were charged with possession of stolen property, all but one were charged with theft, two of those arrested were charged with breaching court orders, one party was wanted on an outstanding criminal code warrant and three were additionally charged when found to be in personal possession of marijuana.
