Vehicles were improperly parked in CP parking lot, Sudbury police say

Around 9:30 p.m. Feb. 22, Greater Sudbury police were called to the CP parking lot on Elgin Street where a train had struck three parked cars.

The unoccupied vehicles were improperly parked for the Wolves game. There were no injuries, police confirm. Two of the vehicles suffered significant damage while the third was able to be driven away.

As a result of the collision, traffic was blocked by the tracks on Elm Street as well as at Frood and Beatty streets for about an hour and half.

The collision occurred at the east end of the CP lot across from the Samaritan Centre. The property is owned by CP but leased to the city, which operates the parking lot.
