A snowmobile driver has been charged with speeding after being clocked travelling at 140 kilometres an hour on a snowmobile trail, where the speed limit is 50 kilometres an hour, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The 40-year-old speeder was caught March 3 just before noon on OFSC snowmobile trail D in the Chelmsford area.

Snowmobile drivers are reminded that the maximum speed on prescribed trails is 50 km/h unless reduced by law. The Greater Sudbury Police Service encourages all operators to be prudent and ensure snowmobiles are operated with care and control at all times.
