Another Sudbury Transit bus driver assaulted

Two Sudbury Transit passengers spit on and punched a bus driver on July 14, said Greater Sudbury Police Service. At about 12:40 a.m., the two accused boarded a transit bus heading toward Notre Dame.

Two Sudbury Transit passengers spit on and punched a bus driver on July 14, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

At about 12:40 a.m., the two accused boarded a transit bus heading toward Notre Dame. They began acting in an inappropriate and unruly manner, engaging in a verbal dispute with the driver, said police.

Both were asked to get off the bus, at which point they assaulted the driver. They then exited the bus and fled on foot on Notre Dame.

Police attended the area where both passengers were located and arrested for assault. Both accused are young people.

The driver suffered minor injuries not requiring any medical attention.

Police and the city continue to work together to reduce the risk of assault on bus operators. The city is committed to the safety of all operators and riders. Violence of any kind will not be tolerated.
