The thefts took place in the Martin Avenue area of New Sudbury. Fortunately, a resident of the area happened to notice the suspects going through vehicles. The resident contacted police, and the suspects were located and arrested. They were going through vehicles and taking items such as loose change and electronic devices.
In addition to Martin Avenue, they targeted vehicles on McCallister Avenue, Main Street and Alexander Street.
A 30-year-old man is charge with theft, possession of property obtained by crime, trespass by night and breach of probation.
A 27-year-old man is charged with theft, possession of property obtained by crime and trespass by night.
They are both in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Greater Sudbury Police Service encourages citizens to lock vehicles. Drivers are reminded to take simple precautions that will protect their vehicles from theft.
-Roll up the vehicles’ windows;
-Keep valuables out of sight;
-Lock the doors; and
-Pocket the ignition key.
