The name of the passenger of a Chrysler 300 who was killed in a collision on Highway 11 has been identified as 31-year-old James Richard Kirkham of Ottawa.
The driver of the Chrysler has been identified as 31-year-old Adel Mahamed. He was been charged with careless driving, as well as the drug-related charges he already faces.
The police investigation is ongoing.
A 44-year-old Sudbury man was injured after being involved in a fatal two -vehicle collision on Highway 11, about 90 kilometres west of Hearst, said the Ontario Provincial Police.
He was driving a pickup truck east on the highway shortly after 1 a.m. on Oct. 22 when a Chrsyler 300, driving in the opposite direction, crossed the centre line.
The passenger of the Chrysler was killed as a result. The driver was also taken to hospital. Both were from Ottawa and were 31 years old.
Upon further investigation, police found within the Chrysler one kilogram of cocaine worth about $100,000. The driver of the Chrysler was arrested and charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of trafficking. Further charges are pending.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Names of the involved parties are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
