Police set up checks at Lasalle Boulevard, The Kingsway, Falconbridge Highway, Barrydowne Road and Brady Street at Cedar Street, stopping a total of 183 drivers.
“The ongoing R.I.D.E. program is aimed at reducing property damage, injuries and death caused by impaired driving,” Sudbury police said in a release. “R.I.D.E. checks are intended to target high-incident / high-complaint areas.”
The Greater Sudbury Police Service, Action Sudbury and STRIDE (Sudbury Taskforce to Remove Impaired Drivers Everywhere) support Operation Lookout. It's a Canada-wide, year-round public awareness program that encourages the public to dial 911 if they suspect an impaired driver.
