Seven people face drunk-driving-related charges after Greater Sudbury Police Service wrapped up another month of its 12-month High Visibility program. A 19-year-old man was charged on Oct. 18 at about 1:35 a.m.

Seven people face drunk-driving-related charges after Greater Sudbury Police Service wrapped up another month of its 12-month High Visibility program.

A 19-year-old man was charged on Oct. 18 at about 1:35 a.m. when officers attended a motor vehicle collision where a 2004 grey Chevrolet Optra had struck a parked vehicle.


Further investigation revealed that the driver had been drinking. He failed to provide a suitable breath sample to police, and was subsequently arrested.

He is charged with failing/refusing to provide a breath sample. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

A 20-year-old woman faces drunk-driving-related charges following a suspicious person complaint on Oct. 20 at about 4 a.m. in the area of Ester Road.

Officers located a 2003 white Pontiac Grand AM and determined the driver had been drinking. She failed to provide a breath sample, was arrested and taken to police headquarters.

She is charged with failing or refusing to provide a breath sample. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

A 27-year-old woman was charged with drunk driving after breath samples revealed she was twice the legal limit.

Police were dispatched on Oct. 22 at about 6:33 a.m. to a collision on The Kingsway. Police allege the driver of a 2012 red Honda Civic had been drinking. She failed a roadside breath test, was arrested and taken to police headquarters for additional breath tests.

She is charged with impaired care and control and exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

A 36-year-old man was caught driving impaired and with a suspended licence on Oct. 24 at about 11:51 p.m.

In response to a disturbance call, police attended the area of Lasalle Boulevard, where officers located a 2004 silver Chrysler Intrepid and determined the driver had been drinking.
He failed the roadside test and was arrested.

He is charged with exceeding 80 mgs of alcohol and driving while under suspension. His vehicle was impounded for seven days.

A 23-year-old man was charged with impaired on Oct. 27 when he was stopped at a RIDE check point on Brady Street.

He failed the roadside test, and was subsequently arrested.

A 38-year-old woman was charged with impaired driving on Oct. 29 when police were alerted to a 1999 Toyota Corolla travelling at a high rate of speed on Municipal Road 80 in Hanmer.

The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was found to have been drinking, said police. She failed a roadside test, was arrested and taken to police headquarters. Further tests revealed she was more than twice the legal limit.

She is charged with impaired driving and exceeding 80 mgs of alcohol. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

A Sudbury woman (no age provided) was charged with impaired driving on Oct. 30 after she was involved in a collision on Regent Street at about 7:13 p.m.

She was arrested and taken to police headquarters. She failed to provide a suitable breath sample.

She is charged with impaired driving and failing/refusing to provide a sample and driving while disqualified. Her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
