A 30-year-old Gore Bay man faces child porn charges following a six-month covert online investigation, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

In June, police from the Toronto Police Service - Child Exploitation Unit were conducting a covert online investigation. During the investigation, the suspect sent images of child sexual abuse to the undercover officer, said the OPP in a news release.

In October, undercover police from New Zealand identified this same suspect involved in the sharing access of child sexual abuse images via the Internet. Upon further investigation, the suspect was identified in Gore Bay on the Manitoulin Island.

The file was forwarded to the OPP's Child Sexual Exploitation unit for further investigation.

Officers searched the suspect's home on Dec. 4 where they found and seized two computers and other items that contained images of child sexual abuse.

He is charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, one count of making available child pornography and two counts of accessing child pornography.

He is scheduled for a bail hearing on Dec. 6 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay.

The investigation is continuing.
