The driver of a silver Porsche has been charged after being clocked doing 158 kilometres an hour in a posted 80-km/h zone, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Driving at those speeds nets stunt driving charges, said police.

The driver was pulled over on Dec. 7 just after 9 a.m.

“Driving at speeds of 78km/h over the posted speed limit puts everyone at an unnecessary risk,” said police in a news release.

The driver was charged with stunt racing and speeding and is scheduled to attend court to answer to the charges. His vehicle was also impounded for seven days.

“The Traffic Management Unit would like to remind drivers that stunt driving is a serious offence. Everyone should be driving according to the road and weather conditions and definitely within the speed limit.”
