Within an hour of setting up a RIDE check on Dec. 17, Greater Sudbury Police issued a three-day licence suspension.

That was the only infraction noted by officers, who checked 70 vehicles when they set up on Montee Principale at Bonin Street and Montee Principale at Notre Dame Street in Azilda.

“Officers were pleased to note compliance on appropriate documentation and seatbelt use,” Greater Sudbury Police said in a news release.

The ongoing RIDE program is aimed at reducing property damage, injuries and death caused by impaired driving. The traffic management unit has been conducting vehicle checks during different days of the week, different times, locations and varying durations to address impaired driving.
