Police bust up Espanola grow op

The Ontario Provincial Police seized an estimated $207,569 in marijuana on Dec. 19 from a grow op at a home in Espanola.

The Ontario Provincial Police seized an estimated $207,569 in marijuana on Dec. 19 from a grow op at a home in Espanola.

An adult and a young person were arrested when officers from the OPP's Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Sudbury Drug Enforcement Unit, the Espanola Police Service, Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service, United Chiefs and Council (UCCM) of Manitoulin, Anishnaabe Police Service and members of the Manitoulin Island OPP found 207 pot plants, 40 grams of pot, packaging material, a debt list and grow equipment.

Both suspects have been charged with production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking. They were both released from custody and will appear in court in February 2014.
