Police HEAT team ends 2013, laying 101 charges, seizing $71K in drugs

Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service's Drug and BEAR (Break, Enter and Robbery) Units, in addition to officers seconded from the Uniform Division formed a High Risk Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) in November 2013.

The objective of this initiative was to locate or apprehend offenders with outstanding arrests warrants, who for most part, did not have a permanent address or moved on a frequent basis.

The Team concluded the initiative at the end of 2013 with the following results:

- 20 arrests on outstanding warrants held by our service
- 32 warrants executed
- 15 additional charges were processed during the arrests
- 11 additional accused were arrested for multiple Criminal Code offences
- 101 Criminal Code total charges.

There was also $71,267.00 in drugs seized during this period.
