Saskatchewan residents arrested in drug seizure

Two people from Saskatchewan face drug charges after they were arrested Jan. 9 following a traffic stop on Highway 17 in McKerrow, which resulted in the Ontario Provincial Police seizing more than $11,000 in drugs.

Two people from Saskatchewan face drug charges after they were arrested Jan. 9 following a traffic stop on Highway 17 in McKerrow, which resulted in the Ontario Provincial Police seizing more than $11,000 in drugs.

An officer from the Espanola OPP detachment stopped the vehicle at about 4:45 p.m. After searching the vehicle, police found 251.1 grams of cannabis marijuana with a street value estimated at $10,072, and 60 grams of Psilocybin (magic mushrooms) with a street value estimated at $1,200.

The male driver and female passenger were arrested and held for bail. Two male passengers were also arrested and released.

A 39-year-old man from Regina, Sask., and a 40-year-old woman from Broadview, Sask., have been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
