Sudbury man charged in child porn investigation

A 62-year-old Sudbury man faces child pornography charges after police learned he was allegedly accessing, possessing and making it available online, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Officers arrested the man on Jan. 15 after an investigation that began more than one year ago.

In December 2011, the cyber crime unit initiated its investigation.

In September, 2013, the source of the child pornography activity was located and a search warrant was obtained. On Sept. 13, 2013 the warrant was executed at a Sudbury home, where officers found and seized hard drives and data storage devices, as well as three computers. Officers found evidence of child pornography.

Then, in November 2013, three young persons filed sexual assault complaints against the same man, who was known to them, said police.

He was officially arrested yesterday for the following offences:
- three counts of possession of child pornography
- two counts of making available child pornography
- two counts of accessing child pornography
- five counts of sexual assault
- five counts of sexual interference

He is being held for bail, scheduled for the today. His identity will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victims.
