Hwy. 17 crash kills off-duty OPP officer

The Ontario Provincial Police have identified the man killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 near Blind River as 36-year-old David Dennie. Dennie was off duty at the time of the collision, which happened at about 7 a.m. on Feb.

The Ontario Provincial Police have identified the man killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 near Blind River as 36-year-old David Dennie.

Dennie was off duty at the time of the collision, which happened at about 7 a.m. on Feb. 13 about one kilometre east of Blind River. It involved a westbound tractor trailer and an eastbound SUV. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 63-year-old man from Thunder Bay, was treated for minor injuries.

Dennie was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
