Had access to firearm, says police

A 39-year-old man is facing weapons charges after police blocked off Ray Street in Wahnapitae on Saturday when the suspect barricaded himself inside a home, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Police were advised the suspect had access to a firearm and was alone inside the residence.

Attempts to communicate with the suspect were unsuccessful until about 8:45 p.m. when negotiators were able to establish contact with the him. He surrendered without incident.

He will appear in bail court Sunday.
