Witnesses helped lead Greater Sudbury Police Service to a 57-year-old snowmobile driver who was arrested after he crashed his snowmobile into a parked truck on Feb. 22 and then left the scene.

Witnesses told police the driver was operating his snowmobile in a careless fashion on Belisle Street in Rayside-Balfour. He lost control and hit a parked Dodge Ram pickup truck with enough force, his snowmobile became stuck under the truck.

The driver wasn't injured. People in the area helped him remove his snowmobile. He then drove away on the damaged snowmobile.

Thanks to information from witnesses, officers located him on March 2. He is charged with driving while disqualified, failing to remain at the scene of a collision, careless driving and driving with no insurance

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 9.
