Waste disposal bins at St. Charles College were set on fire at two locations and a window was broken by unknown persons on March 17 shortly before 6 a.m., said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The fire department extinguished the fire, and police called out a canine unit to conduct a dog track. A forensic unit also attended with members of the Criminal Investigation Division to gather evidence.

The damage was minor, but could have been considerable had the fire not been called in by members of the public so quickly, said Greater Sudbury Police Service. At this time, this is a criminal arson investigation. Police are asking for the public’s assistance to identify those involved.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 705-675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 222-TIPS, online at www.sudburycrimestoppers.com or by texting TIPSUD and the information to CRIMES (274637).
