A 68-year-old woman failed to stop for police on March 23, fleeing from the Ontario Provincial Police before stopping in Wahnapitae.

The OPP received a call around 3:30 p.m. that a vehicle was being driven in an erratic manner and crossing the centre line on Highway 17 in the Coniston area.

When officers found the vehicle, the driver refused to stop. She continued to flee from police while reaching speeds of 50 km/h for about three kilometres.

The driver is charged with impaired driving, failing to stop for police and having care or control of a motor vehicle while liquor was readily available.

She was released from custody and will appear in Sudbury Court on April 9, 2014.
