Police seize 200 grams of pot, charge 19-year-old

A 19-year-old faces drug charges after officers found him in possession of more than 200 grams of marijuana and other paraphernalia on March 31, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

A 19-year-old faces drug charges after officers found him in possession of more than 200 grams of marijuana and other paraphernalia on March 31, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Just before midnight, officers were in the east end of Lasalle Boulevard conducting pro-active patrols, when they noticed a Chevrolet Cavalier parked near the roadway.

Officers noted a strong odour of pot from inside the vehicle when they were talking to the two occupants. The driver was detained and found to be in possession of pot and $575 in cash.

A search of the vehicle located a bag containing more than 200 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia used in drug trafficking. The marijuana seized has a street value of about $2,000.

The 19-year-old man is charged with the following offences:
-Possession for the purpose of trafficking and,
-Possession of property obtained by crime.

He has been released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court April 16.
