An April 19 RIDE check turned up an impaired driver.

Greater Sudbury Police conducting checks on Falconbridge Road pulled over a driver who had a strong odour of alcohol on his breath.

He failed alcohol screening tests both at the roadside and back at police headquarters, and was charged with blowing over 80. His vehicle was seized for seven days, and he was issued with a 90-day driver's licence suspension.

Officers checked a total of 221 vehicles on Falconbridge, Southview Drive, Melvin Street and the city's downtown core April 19.

Beyond the over 80 charge, they issued seven Highway Traffic Act tickets and administered three roadside alcohol screening tests.
