Greater Sudbury Police came to the rescue of a bear who had a large plastic jar stuck on its head April 20.

At around 5:30 a.m., police received a call about the bear, who was wandering around Third Avenue in Lively. A resident reported the bear had its head stuck in the container, which had been used to store birdseed.

Upon the police's arrival on the scene, the bear was wandering around, walking into a variety of objects, including a police cruiser.

The Ministry of Natural Resources was contacted and tranquillized the bear. The jar was then cut off of the animal. The bear was removed from the area and will be relocated.
