NorthernLife.ca will bring you the latest update from Greater Sudbury Police Service on the shootings that shocked the city this week.
Staff Sgt. Al Asunmaa of the Criminal Investigations Division will speak to media at a scrum at 11 a.m. today in the front lobby at GSPS headquarters.
Police say there is new information to release, although it is limited.
On April 29, shortly after 9 p. m., a vehicle with a lone occupant parked on Denis Crescent in Azilda was shot at several times from a vehicle, though the victim was not struck. The description provided for the suspect vehicle is a light-coloured van or SUV, possibly a Chevrolet, GMC or Dodge Caravan.
Like a scene right out of a Hollywood film, at around 11 p. m. April 30, a vehicle with two occupants was shot at several times from another moving vehicle while driving on Barrydowne Road, between Hawthorne and Gemmell.
The victims were not struck, though the driver received minor injuries as a result of shattered glass. Again, the description given of the suspect vehicle is a light-coloured SUV or van, similar to the vehicle allegedly involved in the Azilda shooting.
In a news release, Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers said it's “convinced someone has information on the identity of the suspect(s) and therefore a guaranteed $2,000 reward is being offered for tips received before midnight on Friday May 9, if the information leads to an arrest.”
