Guaranteed reward for info on shooters expires tomorrow

The investigation into the shootings in Azilda and on Barrydowne Road that shocked Greater Sudbury last week continue, but the guaranteed award from Crime Stoppers is coming to an end.

The investigation into the shootings in Azilda and on Barrydowne Road that shocked Greater Sudbury last week continue, but the guaranteed award from Crime Stoppers is coming to an end.

Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers is offering a guaranteed $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest, but the deadline for that reward is May 9 before midnight.

The standard process for determining reward amounts will apply for tips received after the deadline.

To provide information anonymously on the identify of the person(s) responsible for these shootings or any information about other criminal activity, call Crime Stoppers at 705-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a secure online tip to sudburycrimestoppers.com. Tips can also be texted to TIPSUD, followed by the information, to CRIMES (274637).

To recap, on April 29, shortly after 9 p. m., a vehicle with a lone occupant, parked on Denis Crescent in Azilda, was shot at several times, though the victim was not struck. Police have identified the suspect vehicle as a silver Dodge Journey.

Police say that same vehicle was involved in the shooting that took place at approximately 11 p. m. April 30 on Barrydowne Road. A vehicle with two occupants was shot at several times while being pursued by a silver Dodge Journey, police said.

The victims were not struck, though the driver received minor injuries as a result of shattered glass.
