A motorcycle driver received life-threatening injuries after crashing on Howey Drive around 3 p.m. May 20, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Howey Drive is closed at Tarneaud Street to allow officers to investigate the crash.

Staff Sgt. Steve Hotson said he's not sure how long the road will be closed. Greater Sudbury Police are asking the public to avoid the area and find alternate routes of travel. The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Police are not yet releasing any more details of the crash, as it's still under investigation, he said.

When Northern Life arrived on the scene, the driver had already been taken away by emergency personnel. The motorcycle was up on the lawn of a Howey Street home, with broken glass, a glove and a helmet strewn nearby.
