Greater Sudbury Police confirmed the identity of the man stabbed to death on June 3 as 20-year-old Allan Ashawasagai.

A 17-year-old girl has been charged with second-degree murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. Her name will not be released under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She was in court June 4 for her first appearance, with another court appearance scheduled for June 12.

Ashawasagai was stabbed at a Bloor Street apartment. He was taken to Health Sciences North where he died as a result of his injuries.

The matter is being investigated by members of the Criminal Investigations Division.
