Spruce Street closed after police locate suspicious device

A portion of Spruce Street is closed and several homes have been evacuated after police located a suspicious device while conducting a search warrant in the area June 19.

Greater Sudbury Police closed Spruce Street between Ethelbert and Ernest Street and MacLachlan and Eyre Streets to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The area will remain closed until the device can be properly identified and controlled.

Police say there is no danger to the public.

Drivers are asked to take alternate routes until further notice.
