On July 19, 2014 at 11:53 p.m., officers from Warren Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a marine collision on Lake Nipissing.

Investigation revealed that four adults operating a small watercraft during the evening hours struck a small rock outcropping known as “Seagull Island” to locals. Two of the boats occupants were ejected from the boat. Local home owners quickly attended the scene after hearing calls for help. Three females were transported back to shore, all being treated for shock and one transported to hospital. The male driver at this time as not been located. None of the occupants on the vessel were wearing life jackets.
