The Canadian Safe Boating Council and the great Sudbury Police Service have joined forces to for the second year of Operation Dry water, where officers will be patrolling various waterways and looking for safe boating practices.

Drinking and boating account for 40 per cent of boating accidents. Operation Dry Water aims to greatly reduce that number during the long weekend, said GSPS in a news release.

Boaters are reminded to bring all needed safety equipment with them on their boats and that a blood alcohol level of above 0.8 can result in a charge for impaired operation of a vessel.
