2 more arrested in Donovan gun incident

A 45-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman have been arrested in connection to gunshots fired in the Donovan on July 30, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

A 63-year-old man was already arrested in connection to the incident.

Officers learned the 45-year-old man and 36-year-old woman attended an address on Donovan Street at about 1:45 a.m. with the intention of robbing the occupant.

The 45-year-old mam confronted the 63-year-old man with a knife. The resident retrieved a .22-calibre rifle from inside the apartment and chased the assailant back to a vehicle that was being driven by the 36-year-old woman.

The pair then fled the area in the vehicle while being shot at by the apartment's occupant.

At about 9:45 p.m. on July 30, officers arrested the 45-year-old man and 36-year-old woman without incident during traffic stop on Notre Dame Avenue. The man is charged with robbery with weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. The woman is charged with robbery with a weapon. They were scheduled for bail court on July 31.

During the course of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at the address on Donovan Street where the incident occurred. As well as additional .22-calibre rifle ammunition, officers seized 46 hydromorphone tablets valued at $370 and five grams of marijuana valued at $50.

The 63-year-old man faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance in additional to the weapons offences that he was arrested for at the time of the incident.
