Police investigate attempted robbery

Greater Sudbury Police is seeking the suspect who attempted to rob a gas station in Val Caron on Highway 69 just after midnight on Aug. 8. The suspect was carrying a roofing-style hammer with a claw and a blue handle.

Greater Sudbury Police is seeking the suspect who attempted to rob a gas station in Val Caron on Highway 69 just after midnight on Aug. 8.

The suspect was carrying a roofing-style hammer with a claw and a blue handle. He demanded cash from the clerk, who could not open the register. The suspect fled the store without money, heading north on Highway 69.

Police conducted a canine track, but was unable to locate the suspect.

He is described as Caucasian, about 25 years old, 6-0 with a medium to large build. He was wearing a dark-brown hooded leather coat, with a balaclava or scarf covering the lower half of his face. He also wore faded light-blue jeans and brown work boots with a black toe protector.
