McCrea Heights situation resolved, says police

Update: Police have said the situation has come to a peaceful resolution. They will provide more information at a press conference at 5:30 p.m. Municipal Road 80 has re-opened to vehicle traffic.

Greater Sudbury Police have not released any information yet on why they are asking people who live in McCrea Heights not to leave their homes, saying only they are conducting an investigation into a serious situation in the area.

Municipal Road 80 will be closed down in both directions – northbound and southbound.

People are asked to access alternative routes, and will not be able to enter the area where they investigation is being conducted.

Police have also asked residents to refrain from using social media to broadcast photos of the locations of where officers are staging or deployed in the area.
