One driver had their licence suspended and another 19 charges were laid following weekend spotchecks carried out by Greater Sudbury Police.
The spotchecks are part of the R.I.D.E. (Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere) program is aimed at reducing property damage, injuries and death caused by impaired driving. The checks are intended to target high-risk areas for impaired driving.
Police set up checks at Brady Street and Lorne Street, stopping 475 vehicles. One driver failed the roadside test, while several others were charged with such offenses as speeding, driving while using a cellphone and having an improper muffler.
