Greater Sudbury Police say The Kingsway will likely be closed until about 6 p.m. Sept. 14 after a three-vehicle collision earlier in the afternoon.

Drivers are asked to access alternate routes until further notice.

The collision involves three vehicles, one of them a police vehicle. One person suffered serious injury.

Staff Sgt. Marc Brunette told Northern Life he can't yet release details of how the collision occurred, as it's still under investigation by the police service's traffic management unit.

When Northern Life visited the scene of the accident, one SUV had a severely damaged front end, while a truck from the firm Consolidated Drilling and Blasting had been damaged on the side.

An unmarked white police SUV also involved in the collision did not appear to have sustained much damage.
