Greater Sudbury Police officers are shaping up to take on the Capreol Youth Centre in a basketball game to highlight the many years of community service in Capreol.

The public is invited to an open house Oct. 9 to showcase the various volunteer programs and services offered by GSPS including its Citizens on Patrol and the Storefront Friendly Call Program, said a news release.

Capreol residents and all residents of Greater Sudbury are encouraged to come out to meet members of the Rural Response Unit (marine and ATV), as well as the Tactical and K-9 Units.

The Sudbury Police Museum and the Neighbourhood Policing Unit will also be on hand to offer additional information about the service's history, community safety and its future.

Greater Sudbury Police Service Mascot Inspector Mooseau will also make an appearance and will assist with making draws for door prizes.

Everything happens at 59 Young St. from 3-7 p.m. Chief Paul Pedersen will welcome all in attendance.
