Police nab 3 alleged impaired drivers

A 39-year-old man faces numerous impaired-driving-related offences after he allegedly caused a collision on Lloyd Street on Sept. 17 at about 4:45 p.m., said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

A 39-year-old man faces numerous impaired-driving-related offences after he allegedly caused a collision on Lloyd Street on Sept. 17 at about 4:45 p.m., said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

He was driving west on Lloyd Street and crossed the centre line, causing a head-on collision involving two vehicles heading east. The occupants of those other vehicles were injured, said police.

The accused failed a breath test. He was arrested and is charged with two counts each of impaired driving causing bodily harm, over 80 mgs of alcohol-cause accident with bodily harm, driving while under suspension and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

On Sept. 18 at about 11:16 p.m., uniform officers were dispatched to an alleged impaired driver in the area of Lasalle Boulevard. Officers located the vehicle near Diane Street.

The 49-year-old driver of a 1999 Cadillac was stopped and investigated for impaired driving. The male driver exhibited signs of alcohol consumption. A demand was made for a breath sample, which the driver failed. He was arrested and brought to police headquarters, where further breath tests showed he had two and half times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

He is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and Over 80mgs of alcohol in blood. He is required to attend court on the Oct. 1 in order to answer to the charges.

On Sept. 20 at about 1:30 a.m., police were conducting RIDE enforcement in the area of Brady Street.

The driver of a 2004 Subaru Legacy drove through the RIDE check point and did not stop.

The female driver was stopped a short distance away on Riverside Drive, where the officer investigated the female driver for drinking and driving. A demand was made a breath sample, but she refused.

The 52-year-old woman is charged with approved screening sample not provided on demand. She was released from custody and is required to attend court on Oct. 1 in order to answer to the charge.
