One dead in Hwy. 11 crash

One lane on Highway 11 has been reopened, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

One person is dead following a crash on Highway 11 near Askin Township, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m. today and involved a tractor trailer and a Pontiac Sunfire.

The lone occupant of the tractor trailer sustained no injuries. The lone occupant of the Pontiac Sunfire died at the scene.

No names are being released at this time, pending next of kin notifications.

Temagami Ambulance, Temagami Fire Department and Marten River Fire Department attended the scene.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with this ongoing investigation.

Highway 11 is closed in both directions as the investigation into the collision continues.
