Sudbury police arrested a 20-year-old man Saturday morning for dangerous and impaired driving on Second Avenue, near the Kingsway.

The 20-year-old man, from Owen Sound, struck a car at the intersection and according to a witness, drove away in an erratic manner.

Police later arrested the suspect after he had pulled over into a driveway on Gary Street. They found an open case of beer in the car.

The driver was charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous driving, impaired driving;,drive with liquor readily available, and, through further investigation, blow over .08 and young driver blood alcohol content above zero.

Police found further damage on the vehicle that was not consistent with the crash at the intersection of Second Avenue and the Kingsway.

They suspect the driver's vehicle was involved in other collisions Friday night or Saturday morning.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance if their vehicle was involved in a hit and run accident overnight in the areas of Second Avenue and New Sudbury.

Police are holding the suspect in custody, pending a bail hearing.
