Man injured during arrest, SIU to investigate

The Special Investigations Unit has been called in to probe a case where a man being arrested Oct. 18 was injured when resisting arrest, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

Officer responded to a 911 call Oct. 18 at about 4:06 a.m. at a home in Secord Township. Upon arrival, officers attempted to arrest a man, who was subsequently injured during the arrest.

The man has been charged with assault, assault with the intent to resist arrest, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and resisting a Peace Officer.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries and was later released.


The OPP has notified the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) who has invoked its mandate.
