Police locate stranded hunters

A group of three hunters was found safe and sound after they failed to return home at the expected time. Greater Sudbury Police were phoned in the early morning hours of Nov. 2 about the group, who were out hunting in the Worthington area.

Greater Sudbury Police were phoned in the early morning hours of Nov. 2 about the group, who were out hunting in the Worthington area.

One of the individuals managed to get cell phone service, and phoned 911 at 6:48 a.m., advising emergency services their vehicle had got stuck in the mud, and they spent the night in their vehicle. They had no extra equipment or supplies with them.

Police travelled to the area, and all three hunters were located in good health.

Greater Sudbury Police offer the following tips for hunters:

-Know the area
-Let someone know your trip plan
-Monitor the weather and wear/bring appropriate clothing
-Carry a full-charged cell phone
-Bring extra food and water supplies
-Carry a first aid kit
