An 18-year-old Azilda man has been charged with several weapons-related offences following a Nov. 1 incident at the residences at Cambrian College, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

At about 10 p.m. Nov. 1, one Cambrian College student and a visitor were visiting a townhouse located at the Cambrian residence on Barrydowne Road. While inside one of the townhouses, they got into a heated verbal dispute with a male stranger who was visiting. The dispute was over the ownership and possible purchase of an iPhone belonging to a student.

The dispute escalated into a physical altercation between the stranger, the student and the visitor. Witnesses advised that the stranger does not live on campus and may have attended the area to acquire illicit drugs.

The suspect pulled out a knife and assaulted the two males. Following the assault, the suspect fled the area on foot.

He is charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and breach of probation.

He was arrested Nov. 12 and is scheduled for a bail hearing.
