Police investigating bomb threats

Greater Sudbury Police Service is currently at three locations within the Greater Sudbury area as a result of bomb threats received about 20 minutes apart at about 1 p.m. today.

Greater Sudbury Police Service is currently at three locations within the Greater Sudbury area as a result of bomb threats received about 20 minutes apart at about 1 p.m. today.

The only location identified at this time is the Esso gas station on Regent Street. NorthernLife.ca has reporters en route.

There is evidence to suggest that the same person made the threats, said police. The locations involved are being checked for suspicious packages or items, and an update will be provided when available.

These types of calls are taken seriously. Public safety is paramount and officers will continue the search until they are satisfied the sites are safe.

Anyone with information as to who may be responsible for making these calls is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers.
