Would-be Jem Mart robber arrested

A 51-year-old man was arrested Nov. 26 and charged in connection with an attempted robbery at the Jem Mart on Kathleen Street on Nov. 22, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

A 51-year-old man was arrested Nov. 26 and charged in connection with an attempted robbery at the Jem Mart on Kathleen Street on Nov. 22, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The suspect is charged with robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was kept in custody and scheduled for a bail hearing Nov. 27.

In the original press release, police said the suspect used two knives in his attempt to rob the store. He entered the Jem Mart around 10 p.m., demanded money, but the clerk refused. The suspect fled without any money or property.
