A Sudbury man, 38, is facing charges after calling the emergency 911 number more than 20 times on Monday, despite the fact there was no emergency.

After making the repeated calls and swearing and threatening the operators, the man claimed someone in his apartment was trying to kill him.

“The male party was subsequently located by police and arrested for public mischief, and threatening death,” a release from Greater Sudbury Police said. “The male was placed in a police vehicle and on the way back to police headquarters, he began smashing his head on the partition of the cruiser to the point that he bled all over the back of the police vehicle.”

At that point, he was taken to Health Sciences North and received stitches for his injuries. The man faces further charges for mischief for damaging the cruiser. He was expected to be in bail court Tuesday morning.
